The experiment http://www.prisonexp.org/ while not directly related to technology is very interesting result in ethics. In some ways it reminds me of the book The Gulag Archipelago A thought provoking book, but not light reading.
The http://www.prisonexp.org/ is quite disturbing. It's interesting that even the people conducting the experiment were unsure if the one 'prisoner' was actually affected or if he was acting. The prisoner's statement "You can't leave. You can't quit." is chilling. It wasn't the intent of the experiment, but the complete surrender to the roles by the guards and the experimenters shows the importance of strict guidelines to ensure impartial observation of any experiment.
